Lessons in the Law of Attraction From a Cup of Coffee

 In Blog, Life Lessons

The law of attraction. When you believe, you will see. As you sow, so shall you reap. What you focus upon expands. These phrases all mean the same thing. Since the book and the movie, The Secret, came out in 2006, the “law of attraction” has been a buzzword, of sorts, in the world of metaphysics and spirituality. The “secret” really isn’t a secret after all! I’ve known that for a while, but it wasn’t until a month or so ago, when I got a big lesson in the law of attraction and what it really is about, from – of all unusual places – a cup of coffee.

Anyone who knows me well, knows I love going to Starbucks to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or tea, people-watch, or get work done on my computer. The one that is closest to where I live is a little bit of a haven for me; I can hardly go there without running into at least a couple of people I know, striking up a conversation with one (or more) of the friendly baristas, or just enjoying the hustle and bustle of small-town “coffee culture.”

I was sitting on one of the benches one Saturday afternoon, watching people come in and out of the door, and enjoying my hot cup of coffee. It was a hot summer day outside, but in the air conditioning, it was chilly and a warm drink was just what I was craving. I was in line and deciding what kind of coffee I wanted. I finally decided on a “venti Pike Place with room”; for you non-Starbucks folks, that’s a “large, medium-roast with room to add what you like”. Normally I prefer my coffee with stevia and almond milk, and although I had stevia packets with me, the only milk choices were cow’s milk, soy milk, or half-and-half (I went with the half-and half).

I sat down, smelled the rich aroma, took a sip, and that’s when it hit me . . . I spent the last five minutes getting very clear about how I wanted my coffee – everything from the size to what I wanted in it. I got this “flash” in my mind’s eye of Archangel Michael, and I felt the urge to write. The following message was channeled:

“What do you want?” Such a simple question, but for most humans, the answer seems very complex. You think about your lives, and when we ask you to “think big,” you become frazzled. It overwhelms you, and you often will settle for less than what you deserve, simply because you have not taken the time to see and feel it into existence or because it feels to “hard” to do so. Thirty seconds spent feeling the home, the job, the relationship, or whatever else you may desire is far better spent than an hour or two working away at something without any feeling or aim to it whatsoever.

From a Divine perspective, you humans are very funny. You spend a great deal of time being very specific about what you want in your coffee or your tea – light or dark, sweet or bitter, rich or mellow, large or small, flavored or not. When the person behind the counter asks you, “What would you like?”, you answer with no hesitations or indecisions. Yet when God asks you, “What would you like?”, you stutter and stumble. It is time to stop selling yourself short. This is your life! Create it the way you desire. Spend just as much time picturing, feeling, and getting specific as your life, as you do about your cup of coffee or tea, and you will find miracles unfolding before you almost instantaneously.

I must admit that after that message, I will never look at a cup of coffee or tea – or manifestation – the same way again!

With that lesson being shared, I invite you to take a few moments each day to see, hear, and most importantly feel what it is like to have your desire(s) manifest. Want a new job or a new home? Feel what it is like to be in that new environment. Get specific about what you’d like, then tune into how it feels to have it. Looking for a new relationship? Be clear about the qualities you want in that relationship, then feel the amazing sense of love and pleasure you get from being in that wonderful relationship. As Archangel Michael said, even thirty seconds of feeling is powerful!

So the next time you enjoy a drink at your local coffeehouse, take a few moments and use it as a reminder to tune in with what the law of attraction really is about. You WILL notice the difference!
